Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: We all probably have multiple WiPs, but which of yours has been hanging around longest, waiting to be finished?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

The Brightness Between Us by Eliot Schrefer (Queer Ducks (and Other Animals): The Natural World of Animal Sexuality) was excellent. It's part sequel, part prequel to The Darkness Outside Us.

As you definitely need to go into Book 1 knowing as little as possible, I can't talk about the plot of Book 2. Let's just say that it was a pleasure to meet these characters again.

There's major m/m, minor m/nb, as well as an asexual female character.

Belle was originally set to appear in a scene where she is standing on/walking down the street outside the pawnshop, but the scene was cut. However, the scene can still be seen in an official promotional photo from the episode.

I've been playing Deltarune! I've replayed chapters one and two, and I've also finished the new chapter three; I haven't played the fourth chapter yet.

For the benefit of anyone who's trying to avoid spoilers, this entry has two different cuts. The first cut contains my thoughts from revisiting the first two chapters (mainly disjointed speculation, including speculation on the Snowgrave route), with no spoilers for the new material, and the second cut contains my thoughts on chapter three.

Thoughts on the first two chapters of Deltarune. )

And now on to chapter three!

Thoughts on chapter three of Deltarune. )

One of the most striking things about Deltarune, like Undertale before it, is how dense this game is with fun little details. It takes every opportunity to slip in a secret or a joke. You're constantly rewarded for poking around, for trying new things, for taking a second look. It's an approach that makes the world such a pleasure to explore.

I'm looking forward to playing chapter four; please try not to give anything away in the comments!

Quote:

"Horror films don't create fear. They release it."

"The first monster that an audience has to be scared of is the filmmaker. They have to feel in the presence of someone not confined by the normal rules of propriety and decency."

~ Wes Craven

Facts: Horror

1.) As many as 50 serial killers are on the loose in the United States. This number is according to the FBI. However, some, including homicide archivist Thomas Hargrove, speculate that around 3,000 to 4,000 serial killers remain active in the country.

2.) Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” is based on a real story. Director Craven revealed that the inspiration for the iconic slasher film came from a story he read from the LA Times: a boy was having disturbing nightmares and refused to sleep for days out of fear. The same night he succumbed to exhaustion, he died in his sleep, but not before screaming for help in the middle of the night because of his nightmares.

Because I am an ambitious mad-woman, I ordered some yarn for a new bedspread I want to make to go with our new bedroom. So three shades of brown and three shades of green for the forest glade vibe. That's around 75 skeins of cotton (which as it turned out was on sale AND pretty cheap to begin with). Which is apparently being sent in SIX packages! With a 'ready for shipment' email for each individual one. I expect there will be as many again for each step of their journey to me. I am drowning in emails from this company. My inbox has not had so many emails in it since I learned to keep it tidy with the archive function.

I'm uncertain about whether this is far too much or not enough. I based the number of skeins on a different project made with the same yarn where that person said they had used 80 and on the picture it looked like it might be a similar sized bed to ours, but bedspread itself a bit smaller than I would like mine to be. I'm planning on a rather looser and more open pattern in mine, though, so that should take up a little less yarn. We'll see how far I get with this.

Can't show you a pattern, it's all in my head. I'm going to do a number of long strips in a mix of the different colours and join them together at the end, and then probably some sort of border around it. So sort of very basic patchwork-y, only in crochet.

(pretty certain I'm going to need more yarn, actually...)

Hi, [community profile] everykindofcraft! I'm excited about this community because I am a "every kind of craft"-er! I love trying new crafts. Right now, I am teaching myself how to cross-stitch:
UFO (cross stitch)
My go-to, however, is always crochet:
Paloma's crochet project
As much as I love crochet, it's hard on my hands - I have chronic pain and already require regular nerve block injections in my dominant hand to keep it functional. I tried cross stitch because I thought it might be easier on my thumbs/wrists.

What are your favorite low spoons crafts?

Okay, I found 98 items. And I'm tired.

[I feel at times that reading through the news is akin to watching a television serial with a really annoying villain, and I keep thinking, come on writers, kill it already. But alas no, they kill off the characters I like instead. I want new writers. That said, it's not all doom and gloom, there's spots of good news in there - actually more good than bad if you know where to look - and depending on your perspective. I've been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer - and it's not only weirdly comforting for a horror series, but also made me a bit hopeful and optimistic.]

Good night and Good Luck all.

I'd cough you to sleep, but I think that would be a tad discomforting? So here's a photo of a flower instead:
