Title: And He'll Still Be Able To Face Himself In The Mirror
Characters: Sawyer, Anthony Cooper. (both timelines)
Rating: PG
Warnings: Spoilers for The Candidate, plus speculation about future events in the alt timeline.
Summary: Written for
lost_in_108 prompt #32: reflection. Sawyer reflects on his encounters with Cooper, in both timelines.
The day after Sawyer pulled his first con, he’d looked at himself in the mirror and hadn’t recognised the face looking back. He’d become Mr. Sawyer; he no longer knew who James Ford was.
The day after he killed the man, he still didn’t recognise his reflection. He’d fulfilled his purpose, but he didn’t know who James could be.
The day after James followed the lead to the nursing home and saw Cooper, he looked at him and knew he wouldn’t kill him. The man he was… he’s clearly gone anyway.
He’ll let it go, walk away, and he’ll still be able to face himself in the mirror.
