Book older than you are: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/52843028-the-mysterious-affair-at-styles - Enjoyed, but I think the edition I had must have been proof read by Only Fools and Horses' Del Boy Trotter, since it makes one of his classic mistakes - Poirot at one point says something about "Bonjour to our chances of catching him" where au revoir really made more sense.

Graphic novel: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23164969-bodies - Think this is one where I actually preferred the way it was adapted for Netflix, especially Maplewood's story (well, I'd include the men in that as well) but still glad I read.

Fairytale retelling: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/195263575-beastly-beauty - A retelling of Beauty and the Beast which I enjoyed.

Book from your TBR - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59951846-the-measure - I can't remember now where this was recommended to me initially because it was ages ago, but I know I was finally prompted to start it by my Character Study from the last Lands of Magic round, because the plot of this is everyone getting a string which tells them the measure of how long their life is going to be, and the character I picked for that challenge was a time traveller who technically had access to the date of his death (even if, by the time that date came around, he didn't seem to be aware of it - I can quite easily believe the child Mikkel wasn't told the full details at the time, but he'd still have had some concept that "Jonas's father had died") - while I didn't pursue that route with Mikkel in the end, the thought prompted me to read. I think personally I'd be on team Chuck The Box In The Sea and not want to know myself.

Translated book - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58724965-outside - Translated from Icelandic. Quite fast paced, not sure why lots of people on Goodreads seem to think it's a novella as I would disagree!

Under 100 pages: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/61235098-kill-joy - The TV adaptation of A Good Girl's Guide To Murder coming out in the UK prompted me to finally pick this one up and get back into this verse - been about 5 years now since I read that originally so can't say I noticed a lot of the supposed changes (apparently the book also had a version set in the US where Sal had had his heart on studying at Harvard, so I'd seen people complaining that the TV adaptation was wrong because it was British?)

Romance plot or sub plot: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/141341954-the-perfect-guy-doesn-t-exist - Those who've known me a while will know that I can never resist anything with a fandom theme and this was no exception even if the fics referenced were very tropey i.e. very not me.

*Movie/TV Tie-in - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/55171989-eine-reise-durch-die-zeit - a few character names the same from Dark, and set in the same town, although not really connected to the story. The author seems to really like the character Noah, since two characters ended up named after him!

Book with a blue cover - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62064975-the-vanishing-of-class-3b - The story of a class trip that sets off and doesn't return. Some may not like that there's lots of POVs, but that's never bothered me.

Non-fiction: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/60529604-friends-lovers-and-the-big-terrible-thing - Think I would agree with the people on Goodreads who said it's hard to know how to rate this memoir, but still glad I read it.

Seasonal read: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/178261336-christmas-at-the-cat-caf - I can guarantee that any cat lovers reading this will come away wanting to cuddle a cat at the end, also felt I understood a bit more about fibromyalgia after reading.

Horror/paranormal: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18193532-the-orphan-choir - I've always been really into Sophie Hannah's crime series (well, there was one that was a bit of a miss) - this one was a bit slow to get off the ground, and I think I do still prefer the Waterhouse and Zailer crime series, but still enjoyed.

Pet or animal companion: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8132422-wish-you-were-here - the first in this series, so a lot more of setting the scenes of the town than in the other one I've read. I have a couple more of these, I hear the earlier ones are better than the later. There's a grey cat living near me that's just how I imagine Mrs Murphy.

There will be an update on the substitutions in March since I didn't finish any of those in February.

Update on my book bingo plus the challenge I set myself of also going through the substitution list:

Action/Thriller: The App https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62917168-the-app - One that had caught my eye on a Facebook advert because the plot of people living to regret downloading an app sent to them by a friend reminded me of a show I'd got into last year, Red Rose. Where I did have to suspend my belief a bit was that so many people would actually click on a link that was supposedly offering them £££ without question, even if it was sent from someone like their best friend - if I got that, my response would probably have been along the lines of "You've been hacked, mate" and deleting the message, but still an enjoyable read.

Sci-fi or fantasy: The Anomaly https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58795978-the-anomaly So you may well also know that I really enjoyed the Flight 19 duology by Grant Finnegan, similar idea to Manifest with the plane jumping forward five years (you may know the story of both coming up with the idea independently and then both being released within weeks of each other). So I was interested in this different take on the concept where the flight lands on its scheduled date, but then duplicates while in turbulence and an identical flight with the same people on board then surfaces from the turbulence to arrive three months later. Where I felt Finnegan's was better was that he spent more time on developing the characters, so that I felt I knew Michael, Tammy, Todd and friends, while it was harder to get the sense of these characters, and would have benefited from spending more time with the passengers and cutting some of the stuff like the president (while not outright named, could only be the Trumpa Loompa). I did enjoy the chapters based on the passengers though.

Number in the title: Five Survive https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/61989811-five-survive Definitely picked up the pace as it went on, with all the revelations about each of the characters building up.

Book with a woman protagonist: Hench https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/51200401-hench Entertaining alternative take on the superhero theme, and having temped in the past, could very much relate to some of the temp stuff!
